Question
When installing or configuring you need to copy the value of the token signing or service reference certificate.
Sometimes you have copied control characters that cause further problems for the application.
But how can you check if you have control characters in the thumbprint you copied from a certificate?
Answer
Open a command prompt and paste the value in the command prompt. When there is a control character you see a small symbol indicating a control character.
You can of course also use a better text editor that shows these characters as a symbol too but these are not always available on a web application server.
So opening a command prompt and paste the value is a easy way to check it.
