Question

When I try to import termbase data, for example from a MultiTerm Desktop export, I get the error "Your file could not be imported. Try again at a later point.". However, when I check my Notifications, there is no further detail:

ERROR

How can I find more information regarding why the termbase import failed, so I can attempt to fix it?

Answer

Download and Analyse the Log File

  1. Go to Resources -> Terminology -> Termbases and tick the box next to the termbase you tried to import the data into.

  2. Click the arrow to the right of Import and then click Download next to the file you tried to import.

    Download Log

A log file will now be downloaded. Opening this file with a text editor, you can now see the cause of the import failure. For example, the except from the following log file shows that there is a duplicate entry ID preventing import:

Import results:
	FAILED My Termbase.xml
Reason: The entries were not imported because the import file could not be parsed and seems to have an invalid format or structure.
Source: "Validation issue at line number: 28. Issue:cvc-identity-constraint.4.1: Duplicate unique value [264,] declared for identity constraint "uniqueConcept" of element "mtf"."
