How to change the Trados GroupShare user password

000003130 |1/27/2023 3:44 PM
Scope/Environment
Trados GroupShare, Trados Studio
Symptoms/Context
You want to change your Trados GroupShare password but are not sure how to proceed. If you know your current password, you can follow Solution 1 or Solution 2. Solution 2 may not be possible for users with restricted access and not enough permissions. If that is the case, Solution 1 will work for everyone.
Resolution

Solution 1: Change password via Trados Studio or MultiTerm Desktop

  1. Open Trados Studio / MultiTerm Desktop
  2. Go to File > Setup > Servers.
  3. In the Servers dialog box, select the Trados GroupShare server for which you want to change your password. You have to have a valid connection established already so the check mark in front has to be green and status has to show as Available. If you don't, then please use the Add/Edit button to add a new connection or edit the one you have.
  4. Click Change Password.
  5. In the Change Server Password dialog box, complete the boxes to change your password.

Solution 2: Change password via the Trados GroupShare Web UI

In a web browser, navigate to the URL of your Trados GroupShare server. Login with your credentials and then click on Users, then find your user, select it and click Edit (or simply click on it). Click inside the Password field and start typing, don't worry about the bullets/asterisks that show, once you start typing they will go away. Below is how it looks in Trados GroupShare 2017.

Solution 3: If you do not know your Trados GroupShare password

Contact your Trados GroupShare administrator and ask for a password change. They will need to follow the instructions from Solution 2 above to change the password of your user to a new password. They will need to communicate the new password to you and then if you want you can change it (this is advisable, so only you know your password). Follow Solution 1 or 2 to change your password.
