If you follow this scenario:

1. You translate a Microsoft Word DOCX file in Trados Studio.
2. You use the Export for Bilingual Review feature and send the file to a reviewer.
3. The reviewer opens the exported *.docx file in Microsoft Word 97-2003 (using the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack). Changes are saved using Microsoft Word 97-2003.
4. You import the reviewed file back into Trados Studio using the Update from Bilingual Review batch task.

You receive the following error message:

Problem when merging content of segment 1

Exception of type KeyPairDoesNotExistException occurred: Key Pair not found

or

Exception of type Exception occurred: Problem when merging content of segment 1.

Workaround:

1. Export the Document for Bilingual Review once more
2. Open both the completed reviewed and the newly created review document
3. Deactivate Track Changes (via Review > Tracking > Track Changes) in the completed reviewed file, then copy all content ([Ctrl]+[A], then [Ctrl]+[C])
4. Deactivate Track Changes in the newly created review document
5. Paste it over the entire content of the newly created review document ([Ctrl]+[A] followed by [Ctrl]+[V])
6. Reactivate Track Changes via Review > Tracking > Track Changes
7. Save the new document and use this new file to update from external review

NOTE - When working with right-to-left target languages (Arabic, Hebrew, etc.) you may also need to change the run of the target language columns before copying over the content. Please see the following article for further information: Arabic Export for Bilingual Review creates a file with reversed order for numbers or other words.

Include these steps for tracked changes. Leave these out, if this still leads to an error.

1. Export the file for review once more
2. Open this new File in Word
3. In Word click Review > Compare > Combine
4. Choose the newly created review for the Original Document, and the old one for the Revised Document
5. Save the combined document

 

Trados Studio stores custom content in the *.docx file. This content is required to track which segments was changed since the last export. Microsoft Word 97-2003 makes changes to the *.docx document which damage the file in such a way that Trados Studio is unable to read back the custom content.
