Offline Activation and Deactivation of a Trados GroupShare 2017 (or later version) License

Symptoms/Context
You would like to active your Trados GroupShare license.
If the simpler online activation/deactivation process is not possible in your scenario, refer to below instructions to perform an offline activation.
Resolution

Offline Activation

  1. Access the server where the Trados GroupShare application server component is installed.
    Note: Log into Windows. The license cannot be activate via the Trados GroupShare website.
  2. Start Trados GroupShare 2015/2017 Product Activation (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\SDL Trados GroupShare\)

  3. Click Activate
  4. Click Alternative activation options > Offline Activation
  5. Copy your activation code (located in Products & Plans > Licenses of your RWS Account) and paste it into the Activation code field.
    NOTE: The moment the activation code is placed in the field the Installation ID will be displayed:
  6. Go to your RWS Account area in Products & Plans > Licenses
  7. Locate your activation code and on the right hand side click Can´t activate online? - Get an offline Activation Certificate.
  8. Copy & paste the Installation ID from the Production Activation dialog (see Step 3) into the Installation ID* field and press Generate Offline Activation Certificate.
  9. Copy the Activation Certificate.
  10. Switch back to the Product Activation wizard and paste the Activation Certificate into the dialog using the Paste from the clipboard icon.
  11. Click the Activate button. If the activation code is valid, the Activation Successful message is displayed.
  12. Click OK. Your license has been successfully activated.

Offline deactivation

  1. Access the server where the Trados GroupShare application server component is installed.
    Note: Log into Windows. The license cannot be activate via the Trados GroupShare website.
  2. Start the Trados GroupShare 2015/2017 Product Activation

  3. Click Deactivate offline:

  4. Login to your RWS Account > Products & Plans > Licenses.
  5. If your License shows as In Use:1 - ask for a License Reset (by pressing the button next to the license) or through RWS Support. To be able to continue with the next steps, the License needs to be shown as Available:1.
  6. Locate your activation code and on the right hand side click Can't deactivate online? - Deactivate Offline.
  7. In the Deactivation Authorization dialog box, copy the Deactivation Authorization Certificate:

  8. Paste the Deactivation Authorization Certification into the Deactivation Authorization box and click Generate Certificate
  9. Click OK when you receive the message that the product has been deactivated locally.
  10. Copy the Deactivation Certificate displaying in the Product Activation dialog.
  11. Switch back to your RWS Account and paste the Deactivation Certificate into the Deactivation Authorization box and click Deactivate. A confirmation page indicates the license has been successfully deactivated.
  12. Switch back to the Product Activation Wizard, tick the box I have returned the deactivation certificate to RWS:

  13. Click Confirm.
