How to export or import custom file type settings in Trados Studio?

Symptoms/Context
If you are using a custom file type filter and you want to export the settings and import them into another Trados Studio version or on another computer.
Resolution
How to export custom filter settings?

1. Open Trados Studio
2. Go to File
3. Click on Options
4. Click on File Types 
5. Click on the filter you want to export (e.g. Microsoft Word 97-2003)
6. Click on Export Settings...

How to import custom filter settings?

1. Open Trados Studio
2. Go to File
3. Click on Options
4. Click on File Types 
5. Click on Import Settings... to import the file type filter settings

IMPORTANT NOTE: You may also want to export filter settings from/into a specific project. In this case, you need to look for the file type filter under Project Settings > File Types. The file type settings under File > Options > File Types are used for future projects created with the default template.
