Question
How to merge Translation Memories (TM's - that are in an .sdltm format) in Trados Studio?
Answer
Solution 1:
  1. Open your Translation Memory in Trados Studio's Translation Memories view
  2. Right-click the TM and select Import
  3. Click on the Add Files... button
  4. In the File name dialogue box, type * and press Enter
  5. This will display all files from your current location
  6. Browse to the location of your .sdltm's (that have to be merged)
  7. Select the TM's and click on Open
  8. Finish the Import Files wizard

Solution 2:

Follow the steps provided in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFYqXJVyraM
(Please note that the solution presented here leads to the loss of the Document Structure Information contextual data from your TM (if your TM contains something like that). This leads to Context Matches being converted into 100% matches when using this new TM.

The Upgrade Translation Memory button will become available in Studio if you install the Trados Compatibility and Migration Power Pack tool from the RWS Appstore: https://appstore.rws.com/Plugin/102

If the TM's that you want to merge are not in an .sdltm format but in another supported format, please follow this process: https://docs.sdl.com/LiveContent/content/en-US/SDL%20Trados%20Studio%20Help-v5/GUID-1FCED8ED-3F69-48C0-90ED-4A339AAC7292.
