Trados Team - I created a custom file type and the files are not being processed with it

000020452 |3/31/2023 12:36 PM
Scope/Environment
Trados Team
Symptoms/Context
A Customer created a custom file type in Trados Team, and the project files are not being processed with it, during a new project creation.
Resolution
Creating a custom file type in Trados Team/editing an existing one:

1. While logged in to Trados Team please go to Resources-File Type Configuration
2. The Add New File Type button will add the desired file type, with the default settings - or use the Import button to upload a new file type configuration
3. Select the File Type you need to modify and you will now be able to edit its settings
4. As an example, you opened the XML TEST file type that you just created. If you want to have specific files, with specific Root elements processed with this file type, please fill in the Root element in the Detection field. Save the changes afterwards.

User-added image

NOTE! Each .xml file contains a Root element, which, in the above example, it is the ,,concept" word.
Example of a .xml file which has the Root element called ,,concept":

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE concept PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DITA 1.3 Concept//EN" "Testfile/dtd/concept.dtd" [
]>

<concept>
<title>termino transldadwaate="sure"</title>
<conbody>
<p><uicontrol>Testing</uicontrol> NB that I limited myself to one poem per poet (<term translate="no">DRIFT</term>) -length poems, because.</p>
<p>I’m sure there are many, many iconic poems <term translate="no">EPB</term> so feel free to relax.</p>
</conbody></concept>

Root Cause
The Root element was added in the Detection settings and now the project files are being processed with the needed custom file type - the project files where the Root element exists in.
