WorldServer - Can I safely delete old projects from the "Projects" folder on the server?

Scope/Environment
WorldServer
Question
I want to delete some specific project folders and files from the Projects folder on the WorldServer server.  Can I do this without affecting data in our database (old cost information, project name, etc) and/or without any further side effects?
Answer
The Projects folder is very important as it contains all the active, completed and archived project files of the whole WorldServer environment. Whatever action you take might affect active projects as well. For instance, if you want to remove folders older than 3 months, you should first check whether there might still be active projects older than 3 months.

You also need to keep in mind that the deletion removes all AIS properties related to a specific project as well. So if you make a mistake and remove the physical files associated with an active project, it will make that project unusable. Or if you or someone else needs to access a completed project's files that you have deleted, that won't no longer be possible.

In general, we do not advise deleting any files or folders under Projects, even if - with time - they might take up a lot of space. We recommend to rather add more space than deleting data from this folder.
