Symptoms/Context

When you try to access Trados Studio, you are unable to because the following error message occurs:

The input is not a valid Base-64 string as it contains a non-base 64 character, more than two padding characters, or an illegal character among the padding characters.

After this, Studio just crashes.

Resolution

Rename the LanguageCloudMachineTranslation.bin file from the following path: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\StudioX (where you need to replace 'username' with your PC username and X is the Studio version, as it follows: 18 is 2024, 17 is 2022, 16 is 2021, 15 is 2019).

Root Cause

The issue is caused by a corrupt LanguageCloudMachineTranslation.bin file.
