Term Recognition in Trados Studio does not work as expected when working with hyphenated words

Symptoms/Context
There may be cases where a term was correctly added to the termbase, but the source documents contain it spelled differently, like in the examples below.

In such cases, you may notice that the term is recognized when it is spelled the same as in the termbase, as expected.

However, it is not recognized when it is spelled differently, for example with a hyphen.

Resolution
In such scenarios, best practice is to add both forms of the term to the termbase, as synonyms.

This way, term recognition will work as expected for both forms. And if needed, the incorrectly spelled form can be tagged as forbidden (e.g. by adding a Status picklist field to the termbase at term level, with the values Allowed/Approved and Forbidden).
