TitleSDL TMS: Why are costs and Total Costs shown with 4 decimal places in Job Quote Report?
URL Name000013651
SummaryThe costs including the Total Costs in the TMS Job Quote Report will be shown in 4 decimal places from SDL TMS 12.4 CU19 and 12.5 CU4 version onwards as there was an enhancement (CRQ-18912) raised to Engineering team to show costs in 4 decimal places to avoid discrepancy in costs. For instance:
Job Quote Report in TMS had Cost in the report rounded off because of two decimal places default in the report. This was causing discrepancies in Total Cost when calculated.
For example:
Minimum Cost defined in Cost model for a language pair: 14
Cost defined in Cost Band for a language pair: 0.085
Job Cost for a language pair: 13.915
Actual/Total cost is 13.915+0.085=14

However, the costs defined in the Job Quote report were rounded off as follows:
Cost defined in Cost Band for a language pair: 0.09
Job Cost for a language pair: 13.92
Actual/Total cost is 13.92+0.09=14.01 increasing the cost by 0.01
Scope/EnvironmentSDL TMS 12.4 CU19 and 12.5 CU4
Question
Why are costs and Total Costs shown with 4 decimal places in SDL TMS Job Quote Report?
Answer
The costs including the Total Costs in the SDL TMS Job Quote Report will be shown in 4 decimal places from SDL TMS 12.4 CU19 and 12.5 CU4 version onwards as there was an enhancement CRQ-18912 raised to SDL Engineering team to show costs in 4 decimal places to avoid discrepancy in costs. Previously for instance:

To avoid this discrepancy, enhancement CRQ-18912 was done to include 4 decimal places in the Job Quote report.

However, please note the UI preference for decimal places should apply only to the UI. There were no changes made on how costs are shown in SDL TMS UI. So if the user wants to see cost with 4 decimal places in UI, change the decimal places value in User preferences. Article Job Quote Cost Discrepancy in TMS will explain in detail.
